How to Get a Permanent Residence Permit in Ukraine as a Foreigner

Foreign Ukrainians – persons of Ukrainian ethnic origin from the US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia and other countries, who have received the appropriate status, which is confirmed by the certificate of a foreign Ukrainian. Such persons have the right to unlimited entry to Ukraine with a visa valid for up to five years without prior receipt of an invitation. Such persons can also obtain Ukrainian citizenship and a permanent residence permit in Ukraine.

Briefly about the registration of the status of a foreign Ukrainian

The right to grant the status is vested in the National Commission for Ukrainians Abroad, established under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The persons themselves submit applications and the necessary package of documents to diplomatic missions abroad.

Only those persons who have reached the age of 16 can apply for the status of foreign Ukrainian, since this procedure is completely voluntary and can be initiated only by the person himself.

After payment of the administrative fee, the documents are submitted for review, and the total decision-making period is up to 90 days. Based on the results of the examination of the application, the person receives a certificate of a foreign Ukrainian or a refusal to receive such a status.

• the possibility of obtaining a multiple-entry visa for visiting Ukraine for five years without prior registration of an invitation;
• employment at enterprises in Ukraine with the same rights as citizens of the state without additional permission;
• the possibility of enrolling in higher education institutions of Ukraine within the established study quotas.

How to get a permanent residence permit in Ukraine for a foreign Ukrainian
